Our story began in the middle of Africa, under the starry sky and a huge tree while being on an incredible adventure visiting the Hadza tribe. And we are happy to tell you about it at the bonfire while licking a marshmallow.
Our team is a bunch of nut jobs.
We like to crack it.
Founder of LifeCampus
Simon has a fairly basic idea. If education was better, we would live in a better world. Being as stubborn as he is, he has decided to dedicate some of his time and efforts to prove his concept, establishing LifeCampus to see where this will take him and the social experiment it is about.
Ever since stepping into his adult life, Simon has been working in the field of humanitarian assistance and international development with a plethora of institutions, ranging from grassroot NGOs to the UN. Having lived and worked in several corners of the world, witnessing inequality, human suffering, conflicts and environmental degradation firsthand, while also talking to hundreds of young people starting their life off often with a lot of uncertainty and confusion, he concluded that the root cause of all this is the lack of proper education and learning. That is why he decided to embark on the journey to define ‘proper’ and to test those ideas that led him to create LifeCampus.
When he is not thinking about “Life, the Universe and Everything”, he is either watching his favorite football team playing or plotting a vigilante world revolution for a more capable leadership.
Founder of LifeCampus
He has worked as a bartender, undercover Loss Prevention Agent with the LAPD and a teacher before moving on to the business world, where he has been recognized with several awards. In 2015, he became the youngest Executive Director of BNI, the world’s largest business networking organization. His strong belief that the promise of a better world can be fulfilled only through leading by example is reflected in his motto; “No guns ever changed the world, it was always a man with a microphone.” He has an ultimate passion for helping people tap into their full potential, for which he has been recognised by folks of all ages and walks of life. This strong sense of purpose has driven him to create the unique experience LifeCampus entails.
While he is changing the world one project at the time, building progressive companies, networks and schools, he is also modern age philosopher and you will certainly experience that. Be warned though, ask him to play only for the spirit of the game at your own peril!
While graduating in Law, Bukky quickly figured out that his path lay somewhere else and so, he embarked upon a career in personal-development, completing qualifications in both counseling and coaching. Currently working in the field of mental health, besides his music career, Bukky puts a lot of his time into supporting disadvantaged groups to develop their employability skill-set.
Despite battling with Generalised Anxiety Disorder he turned his life around, finding peace and purpose through philosophy, art, meditation and creating space for self-reflection, discovering practices and ideas along the way that helped free his mind, body and spirit. This led him to the purposeful desire of sharing his skills and life experience facilitating an empowering learning for young people within the framework of LifeCampus.
Pulling out the most stylish piece of cloth for the day, creating awesome music videos and challenging his friends’ worldview to their utter annoyance are just some parts of his daily routine. If you are lucky, he may write a song about you but chances are that he’ll rather impersonate you, but don’t take it personally – he just loves to do that.
Essi Auguste Virtanen
After graduating from college in St. Louis, she got in the car without much of a plan and drove and wandered through the US. Following her unplanned settling affair with Los Angeles and some stint in journalism, she found her calling in positive psychology and the heartfulness concept, where she ended up coaching and mentoring people, supporting them to drop out of their mind into their heart centre to live a life where their “the feels full.” Her coaching is grounded in positive psychology and holistic wellbeing, using a person-centred and narrative approach to find the answers from within.
Essi joined the team with the true desire to mentor the next incredible generation, bringing her own experience and knowledge to all LifeCampers on how to find one’s authentic truth, clarity, purpose and enthusiasm for file. And on a side note, she loves high notes. So, if you hear her hitting them under the shower, she hasn’t lost it, it’s just part of her morning routine.
Head of Operations and Admin
In his early years, his ability to connect with people helped him go from metal welding to meeting with Hollywood stars in just a few short years. This ability has served him ever since in setting up businesses, working in prestigious organisations like the United Nations and acting as a catalyst in connecting like-minded people to help them reach their goals. He has interviewed and recruited hundreds of people, so he knows a thing or two about personalities.
Laszlo shares the vision of LifeCampus, both as a growing soul and a father concerned with the future this world holds for his offspring. He is also keen on helping the new upcoming generation to do as much damage as he did back in his heyday, while also perhaps guide them how to avoid it should they decide so.
He will hit the road on his motorbike whenever he can and he likes to wash off the weariness of the day with a few chess parties. Actually, if you can beat him, we might even consider recruiting you!
